Josef Prokop (1889-1969) was an Austrian and later Czech painter and graphic artist. He was born in Vienna on February 3, 1889, and died in Kyjov (now in the Czech Republic) in 1969. Prokop studied under Professor O. Seitz at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He worked in various media, including oil on canvas and printmaking (e.g., woodcuts and linocuts). Prokop is recognized as part of the early 20th-century art movements in Central Europe, with his work appearing in the collections of institutions like the National Gallery of Denmark (SMK).
